The Reef Hurricane Guarantee

Whilst the Cayman Islands are officially in the Hurricane Belt, the risk of your particular vacation at your particular time of year actually being disrupted by a Hurricane are statistically low (the Weather Channel has a lot to answer for !), so don’t let the dates of the official hurricane season deter you from planning your visit to The Reef.

Atlantic Hurricane Season Jun 01 – Nov 30

These are the dates of the “official hurricane season” but it is also often one of the calmest, most tranquil seaons of the whole year. The persistent high weather patterns that help spawn the occasional Atlantic and Caribbean hurricanes otherwise brings weeks on end of light, balmy southeasterly breezes, calm seas, and excellent diving and snorkelling conditions.

But just in case you are still concerned, The Reef, as part of our commitment to total guest satisfaction, offers you our Hurricane Guarantee to put your mind at ease so you can go ahead and plan your visit with us :

“No Problem !” Hurricane Guarantee Cancellation Policy

You don't need to be worried about weather in any way shape or form. All guests who must shorten their onsite vacation due to a pending hurricane will be immediately refunded for any days missed additionally the resort will provide a complimentary five-night room voucher. You can also cancel a reservation in the event of a hurricane, within 48 hours of their planned arrival on the island. The policy and the cancellation payments are simple - rebook without penalty or only pay a fee for one night’s stay.

Vacation Disruption:

In the unlikely event that guests are evacuated from The Reef in order to protect them from a potential hurricane threat, guests will be offered the option of either a) a refund for their complete stay, including nights already stayed at the resort, or b) a refund for the remaining nights that were cut short from their vacation, plus in addition a certificate good for five free room nights in our summer/fall season through the end of the following year, based on availability, some restrictions apply.

Travelling To The Reef:

Guests holding a confirmed reservation who are unable to travel to The Reef because of the closing of the Grand Cayman airport or the resort due to implementation of either our National Hurricane Plan or the decision of The Reef to close the resort have the option of a full refund or a one-category room upgrade on the next visit taken anytime before the end of the following year.

Diving:

In the event any diving is affected by the implementation of our National Hurricane Plan you will receive a full refund on any missed diving. Should you miss at least two full days of diving you will receive a 20% discount on diving booked on your next visit with us.
